*3 centaurs stood surrounded by a small army of Gnome Mages chanting away in the moonlight. A fog has somehow crept into the Mound of Stones, hiding the Infernal Mage's true position and Estachell begins a chant of her own.*
Morstell the wanderer withdraws a small ivory bow and pulls the silk thread back, "Trellech! I'll cover Estachell, charge these infidels that their blood may paint this hollowed ground red!" A silvery arrow glistens through the air with a shrill whistle, and a mage falls before his spell is complete.
"For honor, for Gaea and for the Clan!" Trellech a brown haired mammoth of a warrior yells, withdrawing his spear to impale the nearest mage. He reaches his target just in time to hear another arrow smack with a dull thud into the chest of another clone. The little Gnome at the end of his spear deftly dodges his attack, and cackles insanely as he places his hands firmly upon the arm the centaur grips his spear with.
"You may be quick little one, but I am......." Flames erupt in a tower of burnt hair and flesh as Trellech watches his arm seperate from his body and fall to the forest floor. "Yyyyeeeaaarrrgghhhh!" the brown haired warrior screams in pain falling to his front two knees and the cloned mage raises a rusty dagger to finish the centaurs agony.
"Trellech!" the wanderer yells while letting fly with a glowing blue arrow. Morstell rubs an odd looking tattoo on his forearm and suddenly the blue arrow splits in three halfway to its mark.
*Thwap!* *Thwap!* *Thwap!*
The dagger in the clone's hand drops to the ground near Trellech's burnt arm as it's head explodes spraying blood in a fine mist. The warrior reaches down to grab his spear and the severed head of one mage goes rolling by like some gruesome tumbleweed, its body falling limply to the ground just shy of completing its spell. A mage behind him yelps and fires a magic missile into Morstell's chest, signalling the end of three clones at once and the mortal wounding of the wanderer Morstell.
Trellech rears back and launches his spear at a cluster of the clones and smiles in content as it pierces the abdomen of one mage, continues on through the neck of a mage behind it, and comes to an abrupt halt in the face of an unlucky clone. "Ye take mine arm! I take yer lives!" the centaur screams, activating the tattoo on the forearm of his severed arm.
Trellech's spear hums with a dull roar, glowing a brilliant orange the color of the sun building up some strange energy and then explodes in a sphere of magic that sends pieces of mages flying in all directions.
Morstell sat coughing blood upon the ground, drawing one final arrow in attempt to quell the remaining mages, but a lightning bolt seals his fate as it flies forth from the hand of the true mage; Verschus.
"Muahaha! What will you do with one arm and no weapon?" the Infernal Mage laughs in delight and watches as Trellech's face swells first with anger, with pride, with hate, and finally with horror. Trellech runs blindly at Verschus, but it is too late. The mages finish their spells and magic missiles and lightning bolts slam into his body, moonlight shining through the burnt holes in his torso.
The remaining mages draw their daggers in one swift motion and descend upon the last centaur, Estachell, as she finishes her spell.
"Rise Odinell, hero of our great race! Help me that we may destroy these betrayers!" The cairn in the middle of the Mound of stones slides open and Estachell clubs the first of the mages with a gnarled staff crushing its skull. An enormous centaur, the size of the Titans of old raises from the cairn. He is covered in black hair the color of onyx that shines brilliantly in the moonlight, his eyes glow a fierce green, and with a wave of his hardwood staff the mist that has so innocently crept into the area begins to turn to steam.
"Ahhh!!" Clone after clone screams in agony as the steam begins to hiss with static and sparks. The horde of mages fall upon Estachell like ants and all that is heard is the sound of daggers being sheathed and unsheathed from her flesh. Estachell's screams begin to quiet, she mutters a brief curse, and with a final swing of her gnarled staff she falls to her death. The hair on the bodies of the centaurs begins to smolder, and the forest is filled with the stench of burnt hair.
Gnomes run at the towering Odinell, but something strange happens. First they start smoking like little pyres of wood, and are unable to do anything but run around blindly as their bodies start to blister. The great Onyx Centaur Odinell steps forth from his tomb and crushes a clone beneath his feet. "No! This cannot be!" Verschus yelps and hurriedly attempts to remove his sheeny backpack before Odinell's curse can consume him. The Infernal Mage quickly grasps a purple potion and watches in terror as his clones' very flesh begins to melt from their bodies.
Soon there is nothing left but burnt and blackened skeletons falling to the ground all around him in puddles of blood and dark fluid. Verschus can feel the fire of the mist burning the clothes from his body, his skin swelling and blistering beneath them, his lungs begin to flare with pain, and he is unable to even quaff the potion. The Infernal Mage looks up one last time into the green eyes of the Titan, the beast from old legends, he sees a smile upon its onyx face and with a pain unknown to him he laughs insanely as he watches the skin melt from his hands. The vision in his eyes stops, he hears a strange sizzling sound, the smell of something delicious roasting, then burning.....and a sudden and abrupt pressure to his head sends him screaming into the afterlife.
